Ride Leader: Hamish Rogers
Hamish Rogers and road crew Caroline Shotton and Suzi Eves took 14 members on 10 bikes and 1 trike to Arundel.
On a bit of a grey day the ride left the dealership, heading towards Milford The group picked up the A283, bypassing Petworth heading to Fittleworth, turning onto the A29, riding up Bury Hill, past Whiteways before dropping into Arundel.
Roughly half the group enjoyed coffee at The Waterside Cafe whist the rest tip toed through the tulips at Arundel Castle’s tulip festival.The festival is regarded as one of the top tulip displays in Europe with over 100,000 tulips, including over 14,000 in celebration of the King Charles III’s Coronation in May. The sun eventually came out to make a pleasant day.
The return ride headed from Whiteways to Storrington before taking the B2139 to Coolham. From Coolham the ride turned onto the A272 to Billinghurst, then onto the A29 past Billy’s on the Road before picking up the A281 to Guildford .
