Dams and Ghent Weekend Away Update

Call for any further participants and deposits for those already stated their interest for the Dams and Ghent trip.  There are three rooms available if any late interest arises.

The trip aims to start at 10am French time at the Eurotunnel fuel station as people can come over the night before or take the train in the Saturday morning as preferred.  Saturday morning  we will then ride to the lovely town of Veere in the Netherlands for lunch – followed by a route over the main dams over the eastern Scheldte and the inland Dams of PhillipsDam arriving in Zierikzee for tea – historic old port and then over the Zeelandbrug (5km) to our stop in Ghent.  

Hotel to be confirmed – Breakfast in Ghent market square followed by a visit to the castle Graveensteen entry Euros 13, lunch in Bruge – quick look at the Michelangelo Madonna and child in Bruges cathedral – rescued by the Monument Men after stolen by the Nazis! – return to Calais for the Chunnel.

I will ride from GHD at about 1pm Friday to take a tunnel at 16.50 and stay at The Originals City L’Haut Aile in Coquelles (£77 double room and food is good) and return on the Sunday on the 16.36.  Those wishing to join on a Saturday chunnel should book to arrive about 10am on the Saturday allowing for time change
