Channels

Website

The ‘Golden Source’ for Chapter information and is maintained by the Chapter Webmaster. We work very hard to make the information found here accurate and up to date. If there are differences between the website and other Chapter channels such as member posts to our Facebook page, it’s the website that has the right end of the stick!

There is a public facing part of the website which anyone can access and a private facing part of the website which is for Chapter members only and accessed via the [SIGN IN] button.

The website has a variety of information about the Chapter covering such things as:

  • how the Chapter is run
  • the people involved in running the Chapter
  • the history of the Chapter
  • the activities undertaken by the Chapter
  • how to join

The website contains news relevant to the Chapter and its members, news from the dealership and an archive of old Newsletters dating back to the early days of the Chapter. It also contains Notices where previous issues have been discussed and a Chapter position has been determined.

There are also links to other Chapters and organisations which may be of interest to Chapter members.

Please take time to explore the website and send any comments or suggestions you may have through to the Chapter Webmaster who maintains the website.

e-shot

The Chapter’s e-shot is usually published once a week and delivers the latest Chapter News and items of special interest directly to your email inbox. It also highlights actions that members may need to take for forthcoming events.

As a Chapter Member, you will be added to the circulation list automatically, although you can choose to unsubscribe if you wish.

Social Media

FaceBook

A popular way for Chapter Members to comment and share information, the Chapter Facebook page is a moderated closed group for Chapter Members only.

Access to the group is controlled by the Chapter Membership Officer.

FaceBook Live and Zoom

These channels bacame very popular during the Covid crisis with FaceBook Live being used for events such as Virtual Chapter Club Nights and Quiz Nights.

Zoom is used for a variety of meetings within the Chapter.

WhatsApp

While WhatsApp is widely used in 1:1 private chats between members, there are 3 categories of official Chapter WhatsApp Groups:

  • Administrative Groups – For a smooth running of the Chapter, created and managed by Chapter Officers for their area of responsibility. Like Primaries, Charities, Event Organisation, etc.
They are by invitation only of the Chapter Officer in charge.
  • Away Ride Groups – Created by the Road Crew Ride Leader, who invites to the group all participants for info and chat during a specific longer ride. These groups are usually closed some time after the rides
  • Special Groups – These are kind of “Headline” Groups that are advertised as appropriate on the club website and are open for any member to join or leave. Presently known and active are:
    • THOGS Group – for plans and short notice info on Thursday rides
    • LOH Group – for ideas, plans and activities in the LOH area

These groups are run by a Chapter member or officer as admins and have no limitation in participation nor expiration. Only Chapter members can join, and to join contact the groups admin, for THOGS: Dave Obrien and for LOH: Vicki de Carteret.
