The Great Shalford Fair (Suzi Eves)
The Great Shalford Fair (Suzi Eves)
Description: We have been asked by the Shalford Community if the local Hogsback Chapter could do a ride past the Common & Cricket Ground on September 3rd and then exhibit our bikes for people to look at for their Fair.
We will meet at GHD at 10am on the Sunday followed by a very short ride to the show ground.
Traffic is likely to be very busy so will give ourselves plenty of time to get there. Will be doing a short show ride then displaying the bikes for the fair.
Suzi has told there will be refreshments this year for the participants. Weather is not looking to bad at the moment. Would be awesome if we could get a good turn out. The Great Fair of Shalford 2023 takes place on Sunday 3rd September 2023 and promises to be a perfect end-of-summer social and a time to eat, drink, dance and socialise again at a family-friendly event that celebrates life getting back to normal! This once famous event is being brought back to life to celebrate our vibrant local community, with lots of laughter, music and fun for everyone, young or old to enjoy. There is a farmers Market stalls, dog show, fun fair, band(s), beer tent, Silent Pool Gin, classic cars etc.
The event opens at 11:00am and closes about 5.30pm
Should be a good afternoon and it would be really great if we can get a good number of members with there Harleys for the display and support our local Community.
Some background history .... Centuries ago the Great Fair of Shalford was an eagerly anticipated annual event so notorious that it emerged by decree of King John in 1287 and attracted thousands of traders from all over the country to sell their wares, bringing with them plenty of good old fashioned merriment to our beautiful village.

Hogsback Chapter Boot Sale at GHD (Paul Cutler)
Hogsback Chapter Boot Sale at GHD (Paul Cutler)
Description: Have you still got that old Harley related part sitting in your garage gathering dust?
Well here’s the ideal opportunity to get some “dosh” back into your pocket.
Hogsback Chapter will be manning a few tables specifically for members use and with 15% of members sales automatically donated to our nominated charities we should all have happy faces. In the dealership carpark area - starts around 9:30am and runs until around 3pm !
If you want to sell anything on the day then you must label each of your items with your name, telephone details and selling price. We will endeavor to get that price, or as near to it, for you.
Please do be realistic about prices though. 'Asking prices' not far off new prices, do not tend to sell.
If you really want to haggle for a particular price then you really must be there at the table in person. We would welcome your assistance.
You must deliver your items in a box or boxes to the dealership on the Friday September 8th from after lunch until closing and ask for Aaron Presley. NOT A LOAD OF LOOSE ITEMS PLEASE. That really would be a nightmare. So please box them up.
Of course you can always bring down your items on the day.
Any help on the day to man the tables will be very welcome, so please email paul.cutler@hogsbackchapteruk.org to confirm your help.
So get rummaging in that garage now and good luck!
